BEARFOOT GOURMET
       
  Visitors, vacationers and residents of the Lake of Bays area in Muskoka will welcome Toronto designer Anne MacPhee’s newly opened shop in Baysville. It has a wide selection of fresh foods prepared on premises, including salads, soups, appetizers, entrées and desserts. Ace Bakery breads are baked daily and an assortment of fresh barbecue-ready meats and organic vegetables make meal planning a cinch. In addition it features hostess gifts from preserved condiments and jams to interesting kitchen gadgets and essentials, stemware and cookbooks recommended by The Cookbook Store. You can even order your fresh Thanksgiving turkey.
DWIGHT GARDEN CENTRE
       
  What looked like a large, well organized garden centre with an abundance of healthy looking trees, plants, flowers and shrubs was so much more. We saw Muskoka Chairs, bird houses and seeds, some really interesting unique collectibles, plus an assortment of hostess gifts, if you are visiting cottages of friends or relatives. Be sure to visit its Bargain Basement with 50% discounts and its Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream Parlour.
Langford Canoe and Kayak
          
  If you are travelling on Highway 60, south of Algonquin Park and have ever dreamed of owning a classic cedar canvas or a high performance carbon fiber canoe, you must visit the Dwight, Ontario head office and factory outlet of Canadas oldest canoe company. For over six decades a Langford canoe has been a prized possession of thousands of Canadian families. On display are many examples of canoes and kayaks at wholesale prices. MUSKOKA TOURISM
          
  The District of Muskoka is located 1-1/2 hours north of Toronto. Rafters of Muskoka
          
   Originally built as St. Georges Roman Catholic Church in 1885, TV personality and interior designer David MacPhee converted it to a showplace of unique, country design furnishings and accessories. RICH HILL CANDLES INC.
          
  For over 35 years, this Muskoka destination has been manufacturing and selling at factory outlet prices, hand-crafted candles of every description. You can watch its chandlers create the candles using a 100 year old antique dipping carousel and even handcraft your own candle in its candle dipping room, to take away as a souvenir. TAPAWINGO STUDIO
          
  This cozy log setting set just off Hwy 117 is home to one of the most eclectic painter/print makers we have ever visited. Featured in Canadian books, magazines and newspapers, she has earned an international reputation and received numerous awards for her work. Using a diversity of materials and techniques, her work includes pastel, acrylic and encaustic paintings, woodcuts, etchings, monotypes, mixed media and art cards. Original art and prints (including Giclée), are reasonably priced and available for purchase in her studio, which is a delight to visit.
The Old Palmer House
          
  Fifteen minutes west of Algonquin Park along Highway 60 in the village of Dwight, we discovered this award-winning 1870s log cabin gift store and gallery. It has a wide assortment of cottage furnishings, accessories, lighting and unique gifts including pottery and select antiques, plus interesting rustic furniture, textiles and lamps. The Oxtongue Craft Cabin Gallery
          
  This former artist’s log cabin located in the heart of cottage country is now a gallery and gift shop well worth visiting. Its collection of original art and Canadian crafts is one of the finest we have ever seen. Hand carved burl bowls, pottery, glass, woodcuts, oils and watercolours, plus a distinctive collection of Muskoka jewellery in sterling silver and fine gold make this a shoppers and gift-givers paradise. The hand painted canoe and kayak paddles have to be seen to be believed. Almost every item has heirloom potential.
THE WOODS CLOTHING COMPANY
          
  From original Canada and wildlife designs to eco-conscious themes, you’ll find t-shirts and fleece choices by the thousands. Create special event, corporate, school, camp and cottage identification clothing or visit its website and download a novelty and gift workbook for a great selection of one-liner t shirts. The options are endless. When in the Bracebridge area you can deal directly with the warehouse or visit its website to check weekly specials and order on-line.

  This interesting and attractive 4000 square foot home-store in the heart of downtown Huntsville offers a wide selection of unique rustic to contemporary and heritage furniture & country décor items, all of which have been built by their own craftsmen.
